5.0 Configuration of SAP TAO

You have to configure TAO settings after a successfull installation of SAP TAO .

before configure SAP TAO we must finish below tasks.

In SAP GUI configure SAP Solution Manager
In SAP GUI configure SAP Sandbox or Dev or Production Server information
Make sure Scripting is enabled on SAP Server and SAP Client

Now........ Go to SAP TAO and click “Configure” link at the top right corner.

Following are the tabs available in Configure.

Self Test
Inspect
Import/Export
Consolidate
Log
Expert
License

Go to "Self Test" tab in Configuration window and click "Start"

Except TAO installation all the tasks shows in failed status.

Now Go to installation root path (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP TAO) ....

Copy "CBASE_Default" & "Components_Default" folders and past them in same location.
Then rename the folders as "CBASE" & "Components" folders (See the snapshot)
Create a new folder "DATA".

Setup Enviornment variables

And again do the "Self Test" in SAP TAO Configuration window.

You can see all the tasks are passed in "Self Test"

Setup all the tabs in “Configure” window as per the below steps.

Now install SAP TAO Demo License or Install SAP TAO Lisence.

4.0 Install SAP TAO

1. Run SAP TAO setup file

2. In "Welcome to the SAP TAO Setup Wizard" screen click on "Next" button

3. In "Select Installation Folder" screen enter SAP TAO installation folder path and click on "Next"...

4. In "Confirm Installation" screen click on "Next"...

5. In "Root Path" window enter SAP TAO installation folder path, and click on "OK" button

6. On successful installation of SAP TAO, Close the installation wizard.

How to Install SAP TAO demo License...

Once we install SAP TAO then we have to configure functional libraries and setup environment variables for TAO.

Before installing TAO DEMO license first do self check.

Open SAP TAO
Go to “Configuration” link in TAO window
In “Configuration” window go to “Self Test” tab and click “Start” button

Now go to "License" tab and click on "Check for License" button

You will get an exclamation mark in red for Valid License.

Now to install SAP TAO Demo License we have to create a file in SAP TAO root folder in Local system.

Go to C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP TAO\
Create a empty notepad file and rename it to “SAPOLDLICENSE.TAO”
Make sure the file extension should be “.TAO” and should be in capitals.

Open SAP TAO and go to “License” tab
In “Generate System Number” field under “SAP TAO License” field enter “DEMO” (should be caps)
Go to “Self Test” tab and again click “START” button.

You can find DEMO license is enabled and working.

Note: DEMO license is valid only for 14 days…..

"Error at TabEnter"

Normally we get this error when we do not have SAP system defined in SAP GUI (Logon Pad).

Create a system in GUI and re-run SAP TAO configuration setup…

3.0 Setup Enviornment variables

After successful installation of SAP TAO 1.10, follow below steps to setup Environment variables for the user profile.

In System Properties select "Advanced" tab go to "Advance" tab select "Environment Variables"
Click on Button ‘New’ under “User variables for…”
Add all the 3 Environment Variables one by one as shown in the snap below and click the ‘Ok’ button.
NOTE:ensure that the Variable value is set to “0” (zero) for each variable.

Once all the Environment Variables are added, it’s recommended to reboot the PC.
Here are the settings for the other environment variables, related to TAO / QTP / HP QC:

2.0 Prequisites - SAP TAO installation

Prequisite for the SAP TAO to be installed is QC and QTP which should be integrated, mainly the QC with the Business Components Module in it. Because the Base for the SAP TAO is BPT Concept...

1.0 Overview - SAP TAO 1.0

What is SAP TAO?

The SAP Test Acceleration and Optimization (SAP TAO) software streamlines the creation and maintenance of ERP business process testing...

It helps to break down applications into reusable components, which can then be assembled into test scripts. The test scripts can then be run, performing the steps automatically and recording the results.

Users build reusable tests so that future testing is easier and faster.

Business personnel will be needed to participate in utilizing this new tool.
